Branding Stories: WWIFM (What was in it for me?)

Several clients have graciously shared what important outcomes they’ve received from our Personal Branding Process. I’m proud to share some of them:

Extract Your Brand:
Bring Your Passions to Work

Remember your first job? The excitement and high energy level you brought to work? Now, perhaps the days aren’t quite that exciting. Even when you love the work you do, there’s a reason it’s called WORK! (Know what I mean?)

Why not consider bringing reminders to work of those outside activities or projects that pep you up, revive you, or are just plain enjoyable. Call them your passions.

My colleague Nancy Perry, senior leader at a large organization, is proud to display her hobby. “Needlework is relaxing to me. I feel a sense of accomplishment seeing the finished picture,” she told me. When someone new comes into Nancy’s office, they usually comment on her artwork. There it is — an instant conversation starter.

Express Your Brand:
Fashionista Turned Teacher

Kelly is known for her sense of fashion – on a budget. As a little girl, she learned the techniques for putting together a wardrobe without spending a fortune. She was often asked where she shopped, how she chose the perfect accessories, or how to be a more savvy shopper. Kelly decided to teach colleagues and started a “Shopping Smart” quarterly event. Now women are invited to enjoy a “day at the mall” with Kelly helping them build their wardrobes. As a side effect, these women have greater self-confidence knowing they look their best.

Exude Your Brand Online:
Show Your Expertise

John is known for staying current on industry trends. He wanted to become recognized as a thought leader. By posting his articles on LinkedIn and repetitively commenting within membership Groups, he built a reputation as  an SME. (Subject Matter Expert!). That online visibility led to speaking requests at Industry Conferences, which not only built HIS brand but also the COMPANY brand.

Take these three examples and give yourself permission to SHOW UP demonstrating the Brand Called You.
